Module review

I used to hate the idea of having to draw a mind map. At first, i find it quite hard to do a mind map as i didnt know the right technique. I used to prefer point forms over mind map as to me its easier to read. After learning the right technique of producing a mind map, i somehow prefer mind map over point forms as its more colourful and we can illustrate too. Above is a sequence of my way of mind mapping. After a few weeks of doing mind map, i could see that my mind map got more attractive and simpler to read.

After learning how to produce an advertisement, i became more interested in advertising. I just feel like changing my course too. I've learn alot from this module, especially on generating ideas and expressing it after that.

Forced connection part 2- food

We did forced connection on food in class today. We had fun sharing our ideas. I feel like chef as well as a food critic, trying to improvise the taste of the food. Some of our ideas have already existed in some countries like example cappucino ice cream. We picked on of the best food combination by voting. Everyone was satisfied with the twisties masala flavour as it is more healthy. The real masala dish is oily and it contain alot of coconut milk which is quite fattening. So by adding masala flavour into twisties, its more delicious and appetizing. Plus its alot more healthier as there is no oil and it is being baked instead. Twisties is now a dish which you can snack on anytime and anywhere.

Forced connection-emotions+object

Our lecturer showed us images of how emotions can be applied on objects. I choose a clock as my object.

Hardworking is portrayed by the clock running

Passionate is portrayed by the clock hugging itself

One of the clock hand is facing downwards and another one is in a position where it is saluting.

Greedy is being portrayed  by the clock hugging all the numbers to itself.

Creativity is being portrayed by the clock hand holding a pencil.

Sadness is portrayed by the hands of the clock facing downwards

Analogical Thinking-poster oxygen and self portrait

OXYGEN POSTER

We were given an assignment, which is to design a coca cola advertisement-oxygen in a bottle. My group We decided to design a poster 'oxygen in a can instead of a bottle because can is much more cheaper and can be recycled easily. The poster is in green and yellow so that the can look more appealing. The can is transparent and an oxygen mask can be seen, the blueish-violet smoke is the oxygen. As oxygen cannot be seen, i decided to colour it blue so that the oxygen is visible to viewers. We target athlete as they need more oxygen to repay the oxygen debt. If there is not enough oxygen, lactic acid cannot be broke down and itll cause cramps. Therefore, it is quite important to target audience like athletes.

SELF PORTRAIT

This self portrait is drawn to describe my personality.

I am fast like the river flowing

I am tough like a rock

I am vulnerable like a flower

I am chatty like a bird

I am gentle like a leave

I am skinny like a twig

I am harsh like the waterfall flowing downwards and pounding on the rocks

Lateral Thinking

Last week we did the marshmallow challenge. We were given 20 minutes to build a tallest tower out of  a spaghetti and a marshmallow have to be placed on top of it. My group started out with the base of the tower. We broke 2 sticks into half and arranged it in a cross formation. We then started to bind the rest of the spaghetti stick together forming the tallest tower. At first, it wasn't stable as yet because the base wasn't that strong as it couldn't adhere to the weight of the spaghetti sticks with a marshmallow on top. After thinking on how to make the base more stable, finally, an idea came out. Thanks to the power of physics, the base could adhere to the weight of the whole tower. I placed the strings at the end of each stick. The strings are tangled up and being rolled into ball and was taped against the stick. The ball of strings acts like a support as we weren't allowed to use blue tack. We won the challenge and received a packet of marshmallow. We shared the marshmallow with our lecturer and the other students too for trying.

Apart from the marshmallow challenge, we were given 2 problems and we need to work as a group and we come out with creative solutions. As instructed by our lecturer, the solutions given by us doesn't have to logical, it can be irrational. We then shared our solutions and started laughing at it. We had a great time sharing our ideas and laughing at it. Solutions are above. 1st problem given is 'there's a hole in your fence, and your neighbor's chicken went into your garden and destroy your crops. 2nd problem given is 'there's a bee that went in to your house and it flew to the painting with roses and a vase on it instead of to the real vase of flowers. why?

We didnt have a hard time communicating because all of us came out with the solution and write it down straight away.

Pareidolia and Reflection on creativity

PAREIDOLIA

Term break is over and we were given a task to go around school and look for hidden faces. Above are the hidden faces found inside school. This activity is quite fun because we get walk around with our friends and chit chat while doing our work.

REFLECTION ON CREATIVITY

I've learned a lot from the video. The first embrace for our creativity to flourish is that something that we think. She also did mention that we have to grow hardships in order to prosper and succeed in life. I find it quite inspiring when she said this, 'artists also speak about how pushing up against the limits of what they can do, sometimes pushing into what they cant do, helps them to focus on finding their own voice.' I also find it this sentence quite inspiring 'in order to create, we have to stand in that space between what we see in the world and what we hope for, looking squarely at rejection, at heartbreak, at war, at death.' She have motivated me and i no longer feel inferior.
